About
Shanghai Duolun Museum of Modern Art will present the Documental Exhibition of “Lu Xun Park Project” from January 20th to February 15th, 2008.
Lu Xun Park was established in 1896. Well known for its nationwide popularity and rich cultural ecological value, the 286,300-square-meter park receives over 19,000 visitors every day. The unique park culture has constituted an integrated part of the dynamic contemporary urban culture. The Documental Exhibition of “Lu Xun Park Project” is the second phase of Lu Xun Park Project presented by Shanghai Duolun MoMA. The project aims at raising multi-dimensional awareness of cultural ecology in Lu Xun Park, providing surveys of relationship between micro cultural ecology and macro socio-cultural environment, and stressing the necessity of dynamic interactions between contemporary art institutions and new folk culture in local communities. The documental exhibition will display texts, images, audio recordings, films, etc., gathered from half-year survey completed in the first phase. Through the form of contemporary art with special exhibition design promising strong senses of presence and suggestion, the exhibition intends to activate the audience’s consciousness as a collective public towards the social matter “Lu Xun Park”. Taking “Lu Xun Park Project” as a point of departure, the museum attempts to incorporate the specific concrete scene of current society into contemporary art, rendering the latter a straightforward cultural power.
